Testimonial: Cycle-Informed Training

“While I’ve worked with Jessie for about a year and a half now (with awesome results and deep appreciation for her gentle and adaptable approach), this most recent pivot into a structured training program designed around my monthly cycle has been a huge positive shift.

Each week, we train in a way that supports the phase of my cycle I’m currently in. We’re not massively deviating from how we’ve always trained together (and how I’ve trained in the past), but rather changing the pace, volume, and load based now on what my body is naturally capable of doing during that time.

Y’all, it works. It just does. I’m a cynic when it comes to health trends and I’ve actually had a lot of resistance to cycle-syncing in the past because it felt limiting and overwhelming. This is different. Jessie doesn’t prescribe activities based on where I am in my cycle. Instead, we work with my cycle in a realistic way that makes for better workouts.

And when I say better, here’s what I mean: the right amount of challenging for my energy level that week, the right amount of endurance, power, and rest, and the right amount of support (gentle) vs stretch (pushing me). Every workout has felt very aligned with how I’m feeling when I arrive at the session, and the non-intense food recommendations are a helpful supplement.

This is all very cool, but I’m a results-speak-for-themselves kinda gal so here it is:

As I write this note about my experience with Jessie, I’m about 3 days out from starting my period and have been cycle-training with her for about a month (since just after my last period). While I can tell that my period is definitely on the way, I have had zero breast tenderness. Zero. Which has not been the case for me…ever. This was the first sign to me that this was actually working, because that’s my most noticeable signal (usually about a week out) that my monthly forced underwear eradication is on its way.

I’m noticeably less bloated, which feels amazing and allow me to continue about my life while wearing pants (again, a previously challenging endeavor around this time of the month).

And my poops are fantastic (iykyk), especially compared to previous bouts of constipation during this time of the month. They’re big. They’re complete. They’re multiple times a day. It’s magic. This alone is worth every dollar, in my opinion).

So, definitely work with Jessie for cycle-optimized strength training programming. It’s the shit (and it really takes a lot for me to say this about something).”
